To complement your studies and to provide memorable and rewarding opportunities we provide a comprehensive programme of study trips and visits as well as some special sixth form events for you to take part in.

Last year we took a group of enthusiastic and future post 16 students to St Catharine’s College Cambridge. They had a tour of the campus, a taster lecture and were given some invaluable advice on applying to University. We also visited Oxford University and have strong links with Brasenose College, Oxford where three former students are currently studying.

In addition to this our students have attended Oxbridge Seminars at other North Yorkshire schools, with an aim to inspire them to apply to top class Universities. We have also taken groups of our Post 16 students to both the University of York and Sheffield and attended open days at Leeds University. Alongside trips to various Universities we also attend the National Apprenticeship show in Harrogate.

Throughout the year there are various departmental trips that take place for fieldwork and enrichment opportunities, including a recent trip to Geneva to visit CERN.

Other visits have included a trip to compete in the ESU Mace Debating Competition against a school in York and a range of sports fixtures against other local schools. We also run trips to complete charity events, for example, the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.
