Outwood Academy Easingwold boasts some excellent facilities that our sixth form enjoys including a purpose built Sixth Form Centre, enabling students to get the best out of their studies and the most enjoyment from school. The Sixth Form Centre offers our students the benefit of having an area exclusively available to sixth form students but close by is our main school where specialist classrooms and enrichment activities are easily accessible.

Within the purpose-built Sixth Form Centre four teaching classrooms can be easily changed into a larger sixth form hall which is used for assemblies and exams.  A variety of specific sixth form study areas support students’ academic excellence during the day. The dedicated study area within the Sixth Form Centre is where students can work in a silent environment and is open from 8.00am-5.00pm. Smaller study rooms with the Sixth Form Centre are available and the sixth form common room provides a more sociable working environment. The Sixth Form centre boasts standalone PCs for student use whilst many students bring their own devices and are able to work on these using the Wi-Fi that is available for all students.

A sixth form canteen is available during break and lunch, whilst students are also welcome to use the excellent main school canteen. A small kitchenette is available for students to make tea and coffee during the course of the school day, and a fridge and microwave are available for students who bring their own lunch into school.

The sixth form uses the school library facilities independently throughout the day for study and to obtain assistance with their academic work. The librarian can work with students in class groups, and on an individual basis, to direct them towards the most appropriate resources for their individual academic and personal needs. The main school library offers an excellent resource for all students.

 

In every subject students are supported in their learning through Google Classroom. Students will be expected to join a classroom in every subject where they will receive support with resources, links, live tutorials and direct communication with their teachers and peers. All students receive their own school email login which they can also use to communicate directly with their teachers.

We have a newly built sports hall, fitness room and full size 3G all weather pitch to which our sixth form students can have regular access. These are alongside the sixth form block. 

In the main school our sixth form students can use our brand new Art studio and gallery or our new drama and music suites as well as recently refurbished classrooms across the school.
